then I found another one but I can't find it on newegg so idk the price but I much rather have this since it has a much higher contrast ratio and response time.
I just checked the links and both monitors are different..... as you can tell by the url they are different models too. The L245wp has 3000:1 contrast ratio and 2ms response time. the other has 1000:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response time both have the same type of ports hdmi, dvi,hd and usb.

If you click on the Specifications tab, the specs for both monitors are the same. That's what I was looking at. So something must be wrong with their website.
3000:1 contrast ratio is simply marketing. That's basically theoretical.
I really think the info is wrong or very misleading. To the best of my knowledge, the fastest 24" LCD panel used in LCD monitors is the Samsung LTM240CT01 which is a 6-bit TN panel with a response time of 5ms.

how much is the samsung? also I want hdmi so if it doesn't have it I guess I'll get the lg with 1000:1 contrast ratio for $604 bucks

Why is the Acer so cheap? I don't know, but generally the monitor casing have a cheap look and cheap feel to them.
Why are these monitors so cheap compared to other 24" LCD monitors that you may find?
Like I said, these use cheap 6-bit TN panels that are generally inferior to the various 8-bit panels (P-MVA, S-PVA, S-IPS). For more general info about LCD monitor tech see the following link:
I've been thinking of buying the l246wp. The difference between that and the l245wp is that the l246wp is for retail(buybest, compusa) where as the l245wp is for resellers(dell, newegg). Not a huge difference.
Anyway price is not a giant concern for me and I like the l246wp, here's why:
1) It has the lowest "input lag" of any 24" lcd. Meaning once the gfx card sends it a picture it takes the least amount of time to display it. This is different from response time which generally only helps reduce ghosting.
2) It has a better than average response time
3) Reviews of its picture quality have been good. I've seen one in person at Bestbuy but it was using a split VGA signal which doesn't tell me a thing.
4) The price seems reasonable
Here's what I don't like about it:
1) The case looks bland
2) It only has HDMI, no dvi. However you can use a dvi to hdmi converter, one is included.
I currently own a dell 2405, It's a great monitor but I've noticed a definite input lag, it doesn't bother me but I've noticed it.
I really like Samsung products, I have two of their HDTVs and a dvd player, however I wouldn't buy their 24" monitors because they are overpriced and have the some of the worst input lag of any 24" monitor.
I have the L246WP-BN. It has 8-bit color, hence the 8ms response time (5ms or less usually means 6-bit color). I have my PS3 running on it at 1080p, looks completely awesome! It doesn't have composite or S-Video connectors like some other panels; but it does have HDMI (with DVI adapter), Component, and D-Sub. It also has a PC Audio out connector on the side that outputs audio from HDMI. I was willing to do without the "low-end" video connectors because of the excellect timings this monitor has. The 8-bit color, 1080p, and great panel timings = awesome gaming.
