Wow, could you guys make it any less obvious that you're being paid off by manufacturers?

No not "manufacturers", the term they like to use is "purveyors" :D

i don't get it... why on earth do you need a GPS, a router, an ipod, an mp3 player, a new mouse for school ? :p
maybe i'm old-school, but i can do my work with my "old" mouse (which i bought 2 months ago), with my old lcd monitor (again, 2 months old), without GPS, mp3 player, ipod, and so on. whats the big deal with all of theese ?

I kind of surprised at the monitors that were recommended: An expensive 24" and a super high-end 20".

Why no 22" widescreen selections? They're cheap and getting cheaper, great for games and movies.

I would think they'd be perfect for students.

Yea, every student has $2000 to spend on a monitor alone didn't you know?
