Laptop GPU

I'm gonna get a laptop with SLi enabled, but I'm only getting one graphic for now. I was told by the seller that it's possible for me to add the second graphic card in by myself in the future. Just for fun, I decided to search how much the GTX 280m would cost by itself and couldn't find a place online that sells it.
are GPUs different in different brands of laptops (is this the case for CPU and RAM as well?) if that's the case I guess I can send my laptop to the company to upgrade it in the future.

Well u can find mobile cards on the web,mostly on Ebay and they are not like their desktop brothers in terms of brands,i mean they don't have brands.
Sometimes a company sells the cards itself too,i remember when first DELL XPS M1730 was launched with 2x8700MGTs then when 8800MGTX came out,Dell had the 8800MTGX upgrade kit in their store.
