Capturing from a VIVO / TIVO device on an HP Laptop

Hello everybody.

I spent the two last weeks trying to capture the TV signal using the TIVO input on my HP Laptop. Now i'm very confused, 'cause i'm not a hardware expert precisely. But as far as i know, i can get video signanl through the A/V input connector on my laptop. Maybe my problem is my confusion related to what kind of wires or connectors i must use.

If someone knows where's a guide about it, or knows how to get video signal from a laptop through A/V input, anx if could explain me the exact difference between A/V connectors like the Composite and the RGB i'll be very happy.
