Hi

I've put together a new computer and I started it for the first time today. I've so far only installed one HDD (planning on one more), which is SATA, something I had no prior experience with. So when I first started up the PC and it didn't show the drive at the top of the list, I got worried and changed around the wired, looked around in BIOS and things like that. Nothing changed, so I went with it. Then I put the cd in the dvd player to install Windows XP.

So right after the installation started, I received an error message, and I got the impression it has something to do with the HDD:

*** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF8981524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

What does this mean? Is there something physically wrong with the drive, or does it have to do with connecting the wires wrong?

The HDD is a WD 200gb 8mb, while the mainboard is a Gigabyte K8NSNXP-939, btw. I don't know if that matters at all.

Thanks for any help,

Gjermund

Update:

I tried again now, and I noticed that neither HDD or DVD was recognised at startup. I remember seeing both listed earlier. I just let the installation start up again, and after the initial "loading files" screen, I got the same error message.
