I managed to get hold of a creative vision:m 30gb zen music player. The circuit boards and screen are damaged.

This is a two part question. 1. How can i tell if the HDD is still working?
2.How (if possible) can I set up the HDD to use it as a removable drive via a usb?

Any input on this topic is welcome.
