Gaming hedset options.

I am looking for a headset to use during voice communication while gaming. I want a single ear headset that has a good mic and will allow me to hear only the voices from ventrilo through the headset. At the same time i don't want to headset to completely hinder me hearing everything else coming from my speakers, i only want the voices in the headset. I was thinking that maybe a headset might not be the best for this, but i am having trouble finding a handless (and preferably cordless) mic.

Not only is it a single ear headset it has a volume control on the cord and its a USB port for easy connection. If you have any suggestion on a headset or mic that can meet my needs that would be great.
