HP XW6200 dual Xeon 3.4 FX3400

Hi

I thinking to aquire a 2nd hand HP XW6200 (dual Xeon 3.4 FX3400) for use with Maya, but I confuse because a friend told me it´s better configure a "No brand/Hand made" PC with one intel Q6600/Nvidia GeForce8800 with the same price (about 1000 euros).
Meanwhile, another friend told me I cant get the same performance of HP XW6200 with a "no brand PC" around same price.
The main goal for this Workstation is work with Maya, rendering is for secondary level (late night, 2nd CPU, etc...)
