***I posted this in the motherboards and chipsets section...why? I have no idea, I was kind of tired--I reposted here this morning.***

okay, here is my question:

right now, I have two 512 sticks of kingmax pc3200.
Can a person have 2 512 sticks working in dual channel mode and then another...any size memory module in a non-matching DIMM? i might not have used the right names, but you'll probably understand what I mean.

Example: 2 512's dual channel, 1 gb stick in another dimm, one dimm open.

thanks

No, dual channel cannot be mixed.
Get another stick to run in dual channel or use 3rd and run as single channel.

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign</pre><p></font color=red>

Thats a *notta
Three sticks will run all in single channel.
Pairs are needed to run dual channel

You have 1 memory controller. It can't mix modes.
