i recently bought a 280 gtx for one of my systems. I did some reserch and it seemed like a 550w psu would be ample, so i orded 1 of them 2.
after a few minuets wiggling the card around to fit in in my case it was sorted. booted up 1st time everything seemed great untill i ran 3d mark 06. i only recieved a score of 8800 points   which seems dismal. my 8800 gt oc get a score of 12200?( Running on my core 2).

its seems to be a serious :bounce:  bottel neck or just lack of power the stats of the pc i am running it in are as follows

550w extreme power coolermaster
ASUS M2N-VM HDMI mobo
AMD X2 4.600+ with 3% overclocking
2 gigs ddr 800 running dual channel
250 sata 2 harddrive

I am almost positive the cpu is bottle necking my card but if so can a cpu make such a detrimental effect on your graphics output?

If its is the CPU will i be able to upgrade to a phenom 9950 on this motherboard as i am now comfused betweet am2+ and am3 :heink:

remove the old 880 drivers, reboot and install the new 280 drivers.

your comp still thinks it is running a 8800 and is getting all confused when it talks to a 280.

I can only comment on XP as i am trying my best to avoid the vista virus.

I'am currently running a beta driver and things are going ok.
