I have an ASUS V8170 AGP Pro (AGP 4x-Nvidia GeForce MX 440). I plan to upgrade my entire system early next
year but I would like to buy a new monitor now. I am looking at the Dell 2707WFB 24". It Has DVI and analog connections. When I connect this monitor to my card via the analog connection what can I expect? The card will display up to 2048x1536 so it can support the MAX resolution of the monitor. The only games I play are card games and puzzle games so I could care less about framerates and the video stuff. My primary reason for wanting the monitor now is for Photoshop. I just need a lot more screen space to display all of the windows that I would like to have open. I read somewhere that with an old analog card like mine the screen will be stretched and distorted. If this is true then how bad will it be (unusable or just slightly stretched)?

Thanks in Advance,

Chris

Whether it is the 2407WFB or the 2707WFB (both have the same resolution), if the card games or puzzle games are not very graphic demanding, then you should have no problems.

If the monitor does not allow you to play your games at full screen without "stretching the game", then you can look at your nVidia driver options. I think I remember people saying that nVidia drivers can "force aspect ratio" which means you will have black bars on the left and right of the screen. The monitor may have "aspect ratio" under video options so check that first.

You should also be able to run the game in a window instead of full screen which will display the game in the correct aspect ratio.
