So i have a 22 inch samsung the specs are 1680 x 1050.

If i hook up them through HDMI to DVI will it go to that resolution or do i need a vga to achive that native res?

Also i have a XFI fatality. Did not come with the 5.25 bay. How can i get surround sound on my system is there a way not to use opitcal?

Yes, DVI/HDMI will give you that resolution, and for all uses is typically considered a better video signal than VGA (which is analog).

Your XFI should support 5.1/7.1 surround sound with PC speakers powered through a 3.5mm mini-jack.
