Hey i was wondering what you guys would go for:

i7 920 OC'd to 4ghz
2x gtx 280 SLI
vista 64

or

Phenom II X4 940 OC'd to 3.8ghz
2x gtx 295 SLI
vista 64

i cant seem to find reviews comparing these to configurations and i can get either of them for roughly the same price.
Now im a gamer so i don't care about encoding videos, editing n stuff like that so its purely a platform for games.
if i could of course id go for the i7 with 295 sli but would cost me a lot more ( over £500 more ).
Ultimately i want Crysis (n warhead) to run as smooth as possible ( 60fps+ at 1080p) but just cant quite see which one would be best.

I would go with the i7 and 1 gtx 295

2 reasons why

1. the gtx 295 is almost as fast as the 280 sli (there is 1 frame difference on crysis)
2. because 2 gtx 295's in sli get alot of micro stutter

so just go for the i7 and 1 gtx 295 and you should be gaming with 55fps average 1920x1080 on warhead and you will have atleast sum money to spare :)

thanks for ur reply chrome, where did u get ur source from? because if you look at http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-295-review-bfg/15 it shows that at higher resolutions like 1080p n above 2x gtx 280 kick 1x gtx 295 with nearly 10fps difference !!!and also 55fps at 1080p wouldnt be with enthusiast settings on! Now the gtx 285 is the same price as the old gtx 280 might as well get 2 of them slightly overclocked wich will make them even faster! BUT still thinking wot bout that phenom n 2x gtx 295 in quad sli ? is the microstuttering really bad and does it happen often cos i havent heard a lot of people experiencing it with new generation of gpu, thought it was more of an issue with the ol' 9800s n 8800s cards in sli n quad.
