I had this dell vostro laptop which ran into the Nvidia overheating problems (8400m GS) . Now since i don't think it will live too long, i have decided to get a thinkpad SL500 in it's place . Will it be good enough, since i have heard issues with hotkeys.... and is it good enough considering it is a cut-price thinkpad??

And i suggest everyone.... never buy any f****n piece of S*** from Dell again :pfff:

What are you basing your "hate" on? If it is solely based on the GPU issue then :non: All manufacturers who used those GPUs ran into the same problem and they all did the same thing about it; a BIOS update. These issues were also fixed I believe with the 9 series from NVidia. And if not then, they are certainly fixed with the GT100 and GTX200 series.

Now, what are you planning on using the Lenovo for? Basic uses it should be fine for. The CPU upgrades give you some respectable power, but IMO the graphics choices are a little weak which is only a problem if you want to play games.
