Hello. As the title states above, I'm looking for the best gaming laptop I can get for the money. The thing is though, I will be taking this laptop to college, and using it to type notes on. So right now, I'm just considering 15inch laptops. ( I believe a 17 inch monster woulld turn quite a few heads if i were to slam that thing down on a desk...) I'm honestly looking for something around $999, but for the sake to consider more options, I'll put a max of $1200. Currently looing at the MSI GT627.

You may view that from the above link.

Just as a note, I have been looking around for quite awhile now, but my lack of knowledge on how Laptop Graphic cards ( what card is better than another) is making this decision hard.

Opinions are greatly appreciated! Looking for a push in the right direction. Thanks.

Asus G51VX: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspag [...] 8092150636

It has probably the best GPU that you are going to find in a laptop.

------------------------------ LAPTOP: Sager NP5760|T7200|2gb DDR2-667| 100gb 7200rpm HDD| 512mb 7950GTX|17'' WUXGA

Desktop: Core2 E7200 | Corsair 2gb DDR2-800 | Gigabyte EP35-DS3L | 250gb Seagate Barracuda | MSI GTX260 (192 SP) | Corsair VX550 | Antec 300 case

The Asus G51VX may have the best GPU, but the processor is average/ below average, and probably eats up the battery really fast.

P7350 nope p series are 25W T series 35W so they draw less power to the battery so battery will last longer.

I think he meant me, but that's ok. As long as he finds what he needs it doesn't matter.

I actually might open up a new thread in a few days, concering 17inch laptops for about the same price, but for now and this thread, I will just stick with the 15inch.

Assuming you're taking the laptop to class, I'd say a 14" would be a better choice.
If you're primarily leaving it back in the dorms or apartment, then I'd recommend you getting a cheap laptop or just get a desktop.

Desktop at half the price of a laptop would still perform better than a laptop.
Getting rid of it is easy, just put it on craigslist when you're going to move out, etc.

Gaming laptops are just a bad idea in general, you're paying more for less. Think twice.

Not necessarily johnyeah I have a gaming laptop.... for pure gaming, its good because when i go to lan tournaments and i have to bring my own computer easy for me to carry.. go to a friends and lan easy to bring.. its a 15.4inch with 1680x1050 resolution! so gaming laptops aren't a bad idea just depending on what game your gonna play...i play css competitively and play tf2 and l4d for fun. 9600mGT works good for me! So light and you have more space on a desk to put your books and for me my mouse pad space!

I plan on having a gaming Laptop and a desktop Johnyeah. The main reason, as espada has said, for how easy it will be to take to lan parties, ect. I'm not looking for a desktop replacement, but just a mobile gaming system, that I can take into class every once in awhile to take notes on. Killing two birds with one stone, you could say.

I appreciate all the responses guys. I've pretty much know the way I'd go in the way of 15inch laptops. I have got it down to the AsusG71GX-RX05 and the MSI GT628.

That's the link for the MSI GT628, which seems like a great buy for the money to me.
Sometime today I plan on opening a new thread for 17inch laptops with a new max price of $1350. It'd be great if you guys would like to spread your opinions on that new thread.

found this in asus website...

not sure if they fixed it. but then again all post were from 6/30/2009!
hope this helped you out with the decision and nice setup with the msi laptop! i just have to say take consideration when going with 32bit to 64bit.. my sis uses 32bit which is okay but me and a couple other team mates use 64bit just because i think its good for looking at the ram. 32bit on laptop only finds 3gb of ram max, 64bit 8 gigs! with vista of course not sure about windows 7 and just tell me once you open that thread ill be glad to help!

Reply to Espada

Hey espda. I opened the new thread. It's "best gaming laptop for under 1350". Feel free to take a look at those 3 laptops I gave links for, and give your opinions, ect. That very first link you gave me for the GPU's, has been a ton of help!
