How to clear recent files from 'run'

When i start run and type any drive letter e.g: D, then all the recently opened items from that drive are listed. How do I clear this list?

The exact problem is described in this thread as well and I've tried the solution mentioned here:

But this only prevents new items from being added to the list. It does not remove the items already in the list. Help please!!

Try using ccleaner and check all the options except wipe free space and run the cleaner, the run items will probably have disappeared.
