I would like music production software with the ability to add vocals and instruments down the line aswell as creating the music. I've been thinking about Fruity Loops 7 but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

I currently have pro tools mpowered and find it's pretty cool for recording but not that great if you want to score anything, you can import midi files and buy plugins to playback like drumkit from hell, absynth and the like, but not a great editing for midi. Editing for audio awesomely great. You'll need to buy a piece of hardware with pro tools as it needs it to run.

Cubase, Sonar, Logic Pro(latest version mac only)

Have a read on them 3, there's a few more around

I've had a go on Sonar and would say the editing for midi is a lot better than pro tools but the interface is lacking in it's layout, but that's just me.
