My PC isn't fast enough to playback HD DVD or Bluray Dvds, but my question is if I buy a dedicated Bluray DVD player and don't even use my pc and use a hdmi to dvi connector and hook it up on my dell E228wfp minotor would i be able to watch the movie in hi def? 1680x1050 is the native resolution..would it recognize that resolution right away or do stand alone BR dvd drives give you an option to set resolutions?

You might get 720p as Bluray Player is preset @ 480, 720 and 1080 resolutions.
