I have a gateway HD monitor and computer with a tv tuner. When I connect them with the HDMI cable, I lose all sound. Help!

First off, does your monitor have speakers? If so, how are you getting the sound to them now?

Unless your graphics card specifically state otherwise, HDMI cable from a PC to a monitor DOES NOT transfer sound. On a PC, the sound is handled by your sound card, not your TV tuner card.

The only speakers I have are the external ones. Do I need to connect the audio cables? Thank you for your help.
