I'm researching the building of a new system and trying to figure out how much power each component will use. I'm looking at using at least 2 PC-4000 512MB Ballistix sticks, but their data sheet had no indication of amps needed. I have only found a generic reference of a 128 MB DDR stick using 2.2 amps @ 12V. I thought perhaps just doubling that value for my 512, but I have read various posts of people adding one more stick to their machine and suddenly they've exceeded their power supply.

Thanks, but is all DDR the SDRAM variety?
Also, I was trying to break this down as amps * volts; what voltage does RAM run at?

3.3v rail powers ram. Most people run it at 2.8vdc. By the way, it could never use 2.2amps. Each stick actually only uses about 10 watts.

Abit IS7 - 3.0C @ 3.6ghz - Mushkin PC4000 (2 X 512) - Sapphire 9800Pro - TT 420 watt Pure Power
Samsung 120gb ATA-100 - Maxtor 40gb ATA - 100
Sony DRU-510A - Yellowtail Merlot
