Video Capture Card Problem

Hello I was wondering if anyone knew a solution to my problem. I just got back from vacation and I want to transfer my Video footage onto my Computer and burn it to DVD. The video camera is sort of old (it takes the 8mm video tapes I think) and the only output jacks on it is "AV Out" and "Mic". I can connect a wire from the Capture card to AV out (The yellow color one) and I can get Video, but I cannot get audio. I tried connecting the Mic jack on the Camera to the Line in on my capture card but that doesn't work. I connected the AV out jack to the line in on the sound card and I can hear the sound on my PC speakers but then there is no video because there is only one connection on the camera. I think the only solution to my problem is changing the connector type of the wire coming from AV out on the audio part. It is too thick to fit into the Line in of my capture card or my Sound card's line in. I need some sort of adapter that it can plug into, then that wire fits into the line in and I can capture both the sound and video at the same time. Sorry if this isn't too clear but I don't know much about this sort of thing. Thank you
