I bought an MSI Geforce 6600GT PCIe and it has a 9 pin svideo connector at the back.

It comes with an Nvidia dongle which has 5 connections on it

1 yellow composite
1 s-video
1 green labeled "Y"
1 blue labeled "Pb"
1 red label "Pr"

I am new to this and I am wondering what these connectors do

I know the s-video is for TV-OUT, because I can get it working.

I am not sure if the yellow composite is tv-in or tv-out

Their website on the card says

TV-out (S-Video connector)
Video_in (Composite Video)

So I am assuming that the yellow is TV_in. But how do I use it? What kind of software should I use?

Do you have to turn off the PC and tv_in device, connect the wires, then turn them back on?

There are no instructions, the manual is useless

Thanks

Any tiny little arrows on the connectors? Some of these pigtails have directional arrows molded into the plastic to indicate in/out.

The yellow plug is standard composite video

The Y,Pb,Pr are component video as seen on the back of DVD players. I've never seen them on a video card before but I assume they are video-out if you want to hook the PC up to an HD TV.

Sometimes these connectors are bidirectional and can be used for in or out, as on some Canon/Sony video cameras.

Check the Display control panel -> Advanced and see if there's a "Displays" tab. It may show there at least what output options are available.
