I have an old Compaq S4000J that I'm finally throwing more memory into. I currently have a single 512MB stick. The MoBo is an FIC AM35.

My question is, who do you think I should believe???

Compaq says the S4000J has a maximum memory of 1GB (total on 2 DIMMs), and the AM35 user manual says that it allows up to 2GB (total on 2 DIMMs).

I'd say 2GB is the right number.
