I was after some help. I currently have a Asus g50v-a1 and want to upgrade my GPU. The specification is as follows
Series : G50V-A1
CPU : Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53GHz/6MB L2/1066MHz FSB/ 35W TDP) (With over clock)
Graphic : Nvidia GeForce 9700M-GT w/ 512MB GDDR3
Memory : 4GB DDR2-800 RAM
Hard disk : 2x 250GB 5400RPM SATA hard drives
Screen : 15.4-inch WSXGA+ (1680x1050) glossy display
There is a new g51vx coming out soon.
Series : G51VX
CPU : Core 2 Duo processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M with GDDR3 1 GB VRAM
Memory 4 GB RAM
Hard disk : 2x 250GB 5400RPM SATA hard drives
Screen : 15.6? FHD/HD LED LCD
If I could get a gtx260m will I be able to fit it in my g50v-a1 the chassie looks the same all they have changed is the GPU?
If not can I upgrade it to a alternative GPU that will be better than the Nvidia GeForce 9700M-GT
Alternatively there any where I can send my laptop to have the work done
The only problem is i believe you are looking around £280 for gtx260m. you can’t return it once opened.
Can i put a another gpu in there that’s better than the 9700gt?
That's kinda what we are getting at. We aren't sure and just about every manufacturer is different. Like I said contact Asus tech support and see what they say.
Here's you're problem, B0re. Asus doesn't use a standard MXMIII slot, they use their own reverse MXMIII lookalike connector. So, in order to get a videocard that would work, it'd have to come from Asus, and they would NOT be willing to provide you the part.
