I have a customer that asked me to try to fix is PC after it was hit by lighting. It was deader that a doornail. It runs an ECS C51GM-M V.1.o with 125 GB HD anf I believe 2GB of RAM. I was not that sure with the power supply so I tried a 350W, he had a 400W in there to start out with. Then I put her in and all it did was spin the CPU fan. Is there more problems with this PC than it is worth? Or should I just have him buy a new one. :pfff:

ecs for one is poor quality...

if you swapped out psu's and it powers the board but nothing happens you could have a fried cpu, in which case swapping w\ a known working cpu would let you know if this is the case. w\ lightning and electricity though.... you could have fried most anything connected to the mobo.

if you have the time and patience and supplies to troubleshoot piece by piece, start by pulling the cpu and using a known working cpu, then move to ram, etc... then if that doesn't work... new board!?

would be easier to replace maybe.

I would say the motherboard is fried. north or south bridge. CPU is pretty tough but it still get damage.
