It downgrades the multiplier from x10 to x6. I have tried changing the powerscheme to always on and checking my bios to see if I can disable speedstep. No luck.

I run a acer aspire 0751h. Its so frustrating i want to control the speed myself. I want to run at full speed when surfing on battery and not carry my power adapter everywhere.

Any suggestions?

In the BIOS it would show up as either EST or EIST, not just Speedstep.

Download the RightMark CPU Clock Utility: http://cpu.rightmark.org/download.shtml

I just put it on my computer to see if you could disable EIST and for me atleast it allows that change. Give it a shot.

hmm I got it installed but cant find that setting. Is it a pro version option. Where did you find in your computer?

No, I downloaded the free version (too cheap :) )

It's under the "Advanced CPU Settings" tab:
