Hey, Im looking for a screen to replace my samsung 940B. I practically just want the same as 940b, just biger and in higher resolution. Its for all around use, incl. movies, gaming and photoshop (multimediadesigner). But I cant afford the expensive screens right now, being a student and all.
245B seems to be the best choice out there - what do you think ?
The Samsung 245B/BW uses a 6-bit TN panel which will affect how the accurate the colors will be. The monitor will only be able to produce 262k color, but thru dither it should be able to estimate the remaining 16 million colors. The 940B also uses a TN panel.
Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a TN panel and one of the more expensive 8-bit panels (MVA/PVA/IPS). Since you are only a student the 245B/BW should be good enough for your purposes. However, once you enter the real world and get a job where color accuracy becomes the mantra of your livelihood, you should look at the middle of the road panel technologies (MVA/PVA) or the high-end of the market (IPS).
