What the **** happened to Tom's Hardware??? If I want news fluff, I can go to CNN. I voted for "change" when I voted for Obama, but this is ridiculous. I like the old Tom's Hardware better. Where is he, by the way??? Bring him back!!!

More about : happened tom hardware

How long has it been since you've been to Tom's Hardware? LOL

Considering you just created a new account, I'm guessing it's been a while.

Actually I agree with dcketon, it has been awhile since I used this site, but I liked the old site much better. But I guess I am a minority as they must get more hits with the new approach or they wouldn't stick with it.

Yes, i'm sorry but i have to agree as well. It's a little harder to navigate, but still pretty much the same...

Ah well, change is change. You can't please everyone. It's definitely more modern, and eh kitty like. Soft blue with big buttons everywhere.

Definitely more fluff and they got rid of several sections with the Best of Media takeover.

There're plenty of places to go for actual product reviews and information. I used to have this site as my home page, but it's just a weekly/monthly site to look at occasionally. I mean the "news" on the side of the page is from 2008...

I agree with dcketon. And jerreece's comment is just that a comment. I just made an account today. It's been a while since I've logged into Tom's. Six years ago I used Tom's hardware guide as an excellent reference site to find parts. They tested many different parts and posted the results clearly. I was able to make decisions as to which part would work best for the best price.

The computer I made was based on an A7N8X deluxe motherboard with an Athlon chip, an Antec power supply, a nice heatsink and fans, excellent Corsair memory, etc. The computer handles the best games and software for this time. But alas, it's 6 years old and just starting to lose it. I ran a RAMtest and I have an issue which could be a problem with many different parts.

So checking into Tomshardware, I'm totally surprised that it's gone from a source of impartial well-tested data, to a confusing commercialized website full of forum opinions instead of facts. Does anyone have a website that can farm Tomshardware for useful data? I don't have the time or patience to sift through all the fluff.

I agree, more fluff and less substance, especially since BestofMedia tookover. I was visiting this site on a daily basis for it's great articles. Now, it's time to look for other resources.

well Anand still keeps the uber geek mind alive. Thg heading in a cnet direction isnt really shocking , and to be fair they just dont have the critical hardware intellect that Anand does. This is like the bridge frm Anand to cnet so it serves a purpose.

6 yrs ago or so THG was my first choice in HW reviews for purchasing, Back then they had the PSU guru from god. Things change man, thats life.

Wow...I was just reading an Article today about Call of Duty 4 and the related news column had at the top of the list an article about Geforce cards including Call of Duty 2??!?!?!? How about linking to "current" related articles? Or is TH's definition of current different than mine?

Gents, I invite anyone with feedback on the site's editorial content to send me an email: cangelini at bestofmedia dot com. I'm more than happy to answer questions, discuss editorial content, and field story ideas.

Make your voice heard, and we'll listen.

On my system, I took a stab in the dark and purchased new memory based on what I could recall from the site 6 years ago. I picked up 2 1gig stick of Corsair memory and it solved my problem. My original Corsair 512mb sticks lasted 6 years and I'm satisfied with their longevity.

Looking at the existing site, I'm totally uninterested in opinion, forum discussion, editorial comment. The site has taken a path away from testing of equipment and reporting of the results and I cry for all of our loss.

I'd be the first to agree except I'm not. The and all the places on it have become less technical. Is this a goal? Cause if it's not, it's working out that way.
