I recently bought a Philips HTS3565D home theater system and have a comcast Motorola DCH3416 DVR box. When ever I turn on the cable box the home theater system turns on too, yet i did not program it to the remote. It appears to have the same IR codes as the DVR. When ever I block the IR port on the home theater system, the box wont turn on when turning on the DVR. I have no idea how to fix this and any help would be great!

The cheapest way to solve this problem is to convert one of the remotes to RF using a Next Generation RF adaptor for one and make sure that the IR output of the RF receiver does not reach the other unit. You also need to put opaque tape over the IR output of the remote that has the transmitter in it. Should run about $75.
