I would like to add more memory to my computer which has only 256mb
now. I dont have the motherboard manual and I would like to find out
what memory type it supports before I buy something from the market.
All I know about the board is its from gygabyte hosting a athlon xp
2200 processor and I remember hearing the term PC2100 when I bought
it.

how do I find out the mobo model number so that I can look it up on the web?
can I add just any PCXY00 DDR?
how do I find out if the mobo supports PC2100 DDR?
can I add a 512 2100 DDR or the second too has to be a 256 only?

thanks

Gigabyte boards have the model screenprinted on them.

If you have PC2100, another PC2100 module should work.
