Reading a disc

Hello,
I CAN PLAY CD'S ETC ON MY COMP, BUT I HAVE PUT IN A fAMILY HISTORY CD SOMEONE WANTS ME TO TRANSCRIBE & IT DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE IT? WHAT CAN I DO?

use a different computer with a different CD drive.

Recorded CD's in my experience sometimes won't be read in certain other manufacturers drives.

If you have a laptop or another pc to try use it and see if it can read the disc.
