How do I access HD channels available with my current cable package?

Hi all. I am wondering how I can access the HD channels available with my current cable package.
My equipment and packages are as follows:

• Cable television provided by http://www.campustelevideo.com. Includes around 80 regular channels and 4 high definition channels listed here: http://housing.usc.edu/Services/CableChannels.aspx
• Vizio VX37L. Specs listed here: http://www.vizio.com/productDetail [...] 0&pid=1506

I receive the regular channels and I thought I would be able to pick up the HD channels simply by running the cable autoscan on the Vizio. When I run the autoscan i do not pick up the HD channels. When I try to view them i get a blue screen and no sign of any channel. I am under the impression that I should be able to pick up the HD channels without extra equipment because the TV has an integrated QAM tuner. Is my understanding flawed? How do I access these channels? Do I need more equipment? I appreciate any help you have to offer. If you need any more information please ask.
