Whenever I try to burn a DVD (any type) with my burner, Nero hangs at the 'Checking Disks' section, or at least that is the last dialog. I put in a CD-RW and it does check that a writeable DVD is present as it objected to the CD. Sony has software on its website that allows a test to be done on a disk to see if the drive works, and it passed, and the drive reads OK from DVD or CD. Have upgraded NEro (from 5.5 to 6.whatever) and that made no difference except a prettier dialog.
I'm guessing that there is a bit of software somewhere on my PC that is locking the drive out but I'd rather not have to rebuild my PC; may take all the HD drives out and do a limited reinstall (XP plus Nero) to test whether it is hardware or not, unless anyone can suggest anything else.
