looking for new ram, but the chaintech board doesn't seem to show a lot of compatible ram. I noticed the Patriot PDG1G3500LLK is compatible, but I was looking at buying PDG1G3200LLK instead, which has very good timing and according to the reviews (I know not to only go by new egg reviews) many people hvae them overclocked to 228mhz with 2.5 cas latency. Do you think this ram would be compatible?

I want to get the Chaintech VNF4/Ultra, its the only Nforce 4 ultra board newegg offers. Unless you guys can think of a better board that I can get somewhere else, I'm probably going to get it. What do you mean RMA, damaged return? Why do you think I'd need that?

I don't know about the RMA.

I heard someone wanting to use CL2 memory with this borad.

I have not heard good things about Chaintech's reputation as a good motherboard maker. I just helped a friend debug his system. All his problems went away when I upgraded his socket A motherboard from a Chaintech version to Asus. Very stange. Not sure if this relates to the new VNF4 board.

Anyone able to provide any of their experiences with this particular board, along with memory specifications?

I just had to RMA one VNF3-250 board. I found out that the warranty is only one year and I had to pay shipping both ways. The MB lasted six months before it burned a V-reg. Just a word to the wise.

If you are within the warranty period, you should never have to pay for RMA both ways.

If a company claims you have to pay both ways, you should report them the the Better Business Bureau.

With your agreement, they can do whatever they like. And of course, they can ask you to do anything- doesn't mean you have to do it!

I recall one time a company shipped me a computer chasis with a dent on it. I wanted to return it. They asked me to pay for shipping both ways. I did not agree. I asked them to pay for 100% because they sent me a damaged box! After I threatened to report them to the Better Business Bureau, of course they agreed to pay the shipping.

Got a phone call from Chaintech! They are just charging me shipping one way. If they send me a brand new board I'll be happy! Response was fast once I faxed them. E-mail took a week+.
