Booting

I have a 3 year old dell desktop running XP Professional. Yesterday I was playing a simple game of solitare and all of a sudden the system shut down. I tried to reboot it b ut nothing happens. My monitor turns on then shuts down so I thought maybe it was the video card. But then I read the troubleshooting material in the owners book and it says if no lights are lit on the back of the system that there is either a power problem or a bios problem. I tried plugging the system into a different outlet but that didn't change anything. I don't know how to even attempt a fix to the bios so thats why I am here.

Can someone please help??

I've seen the same symptoms on a computer when I accidentally blew its motherboard. I think you need a new motherboard.
