You can use Kernel for Digital media which is used for recovering pictures and photos from Pen Drives, Flash Cards, Thumb Drives, Memory Sticks, Micro Drive, MMC Cards, XD Cards, Secure Digital Card, Hard Disks, Zip Disks, SD Cards and Mini Disks. This software is available at
I would suggest you to try the free demo version first, this will enable you to figure out how it solves your problem. All the best.

I know this is an old thread but I find R-linux Free Recovery to be very effective and recovered hundreds of pictures from my memory card twice!

I even blogged about it because I really find it very useful.

It’s very simple to recover such photos lost due to formatting using a powerful Image File Recovery Software called Remo Recover Photo (Windows). You need to just install the software and connect the device from which images have to be recovered to that system. If it is a memory card from which images have to be recovered then in that case, you need to just connect the memory card to the system through a card reader.

The software is capable of recovering lost/deleted photos from a fixed hard drive, camera memory cards such as SD, XD etc., and also external USB drives.

The software performs digital image recovery in a few moments and doesn't overwrite data as it is a read only application. In fact, the interface itself is so intuitive, that you don't have to read long boring manuals, and guides to understand it. It does image recovery in just three steps, scan media, select images, and click recover! And all the required images are recovered.

Formating won't make the photos in the disk erased permanently. Those formatted photos are still stored on the disk just invisible or inaccessible. Only the FAT or NFTS table erased the information about where those data were saved but the real data are still intact there in sectors of the disk in your camera memory card.So as long as those formatted photos are not overwritten by new data(take more photos), it's highly possible to recover them. And the MOST Effective way is to rely on format recovery programs or photo recovery software to help.

If you are using computer with Windows OS, try this program called Wondershare Photo Recovery. this photo recovery program can recover photos after deep scan your camera memory card to look for lost pictures, videos and music you accidentally deleted or formatted.

If you are using computer with Mac OS X, then turn to Wondershare Photo Recovery for Mac.

Note: before those photos are recovered, never attempt to put more files to the disk. As saving more files may cause original data overwritten. Once overwritten, it's impossible to recover the lost items.

Good luck and best regards!
