Sony versus canon

currently i own CANON S5-IS POWERSHOT camera.its of 8.1 mega-pixel and optical zoom of 12x.all of its features are great but one thing disaapoints me about it is image quality.they appear not to be bright at all and its easily defeated by the images produced by sony W- series cam which are very cheap in price when compared to canon.i have seen my pics on both.on sony my pics look good and bright.so i am thinking to go for sony DSC-W220 OR W230.but other features in my canon S5-IS is par above the ones in sony esp the 12x optical zoom.
i request u guyz to advise me what to do?
