I purchased the Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers from Newegg. I originally had cheap $20 Labtec 2.1 speakers and I could see glue from a hot glue gun seeping out from the drum on the bottom of the subwoofer. I don't expect quality from $20 speakers, but I paid $70 for the Logitechs and they have MORE hot glue from the subwoofer drum. I don't sense any performance degradation from the bass, because it sounds as good as my Sennheiser EH 150's bass, but will I achieve even higher quality bass if I somehow carefully slice off the massive amounts of glue?

Also, what is the purpose of the drum on the bottom vs the hole on the side of the subwoofer?

ehm, they're pc spekaers so what do you expect, $70 is pocket change for any audio equipment.

however, i do not think removing the glue will lead to higher quality bass, for one thing these are logitech pc speakers the bass is never going to be good.
