DCT 700 not working

I bough t a Motorola DCT 700 cable box for comcast on ebay, thinking I could connect this box to another TV set. We have 6 TV's with Comcast. The box is in excellent shape and powers up nicely but all I get is a clear screen. Is there a way to activate this box, Comcast says all boxes must be rented from them ? ? ?

This is a rented box from Verizon Fios, and can not be sold... you wasted your money, return it to a UPS store they will return it to verizon.
