HELP! Onkyo receiver problems

i have had this product http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm? [...] ceiver&p=i for bout 8 months and never had any problems with it, but now i can't cylce through the listening modes like pro logic II, neo, cinema, orchestra etc. Instead my only options are 'stereo' and 'direct' and sound only comes out of the front left/right speakers naturally. The system stopped recognizing my sub and surround speakers out of no where. the manual says to check the speaker config but when i navigate to it i can't select it to adjust anything, i've tried the remote as well as the buttons on the actual receiver, neither lets me SELECT the speaker config to set it up. Is it possible there was a break down in the hardware somewhere?
