I just bought an asusp4p800-e deluxe and a sata hd to update my system. if i use the sata hd, where do i plug the cd rom drives primary or secondary ide controller? Actually i have 2 optical drives, can 1 be on the primary and the other on the secomdary?

and i keep hearing about sata drivers, what's that about? i didn't get any. I'm assuming some magical bios setting (i haven't got that far) will make the sata boot, right?

You can have one optical drive on primary and another on secondary. That is a pretty standard thing to do because it helps a bit with disc to disc copying.

I assume you have having difficulty getting windows setup to see your new hard drive? Where do you have it plugged in on the board?
If you have it plugged into the one of the plugs next to the chip that says promise on it you will need to provide drivers for that raid controller on a floppy disk for windows setup.
If you have it plugged into the ports next to the south bridge windows setup will see the drive without aditional drivers.
