Cannot burn dvd\'s on sonic my dvd

when I try to burn DVD's with my philips DVD+RW-D28 using Sonic My DVD I keep getting an Unknown device error message. I checked the burner and it is working properly. I am using a Philips DVD+R disc (go figure) to no avail. I give up someone please help me!

You might try updating the Philips' firmware.
