use flash on canon 350d in when needed

Hello Freinds

I have Canon350D, when ever i shoot in Auto Mode or Manual Mode and i want the in-built Flash to flash light, but i am unable to do it when ever i need it, it so happens that the camera decides automaticaly and the Flash is flashed!!, my camera and flash are working fine but i dont know the apporiate setting and so many of my pictures turn out to be under exposed due to No-flash,

could any one please tell me How to use in bulid flash manully when needed on shots on canon350D??

Left side f the camera near the flash is a boton you need to press to pop the flash up, just right behind the Manual /Auto Focus. look here http://a.img-dpreview.com/reviews/CanonEOS350D/Images/NewFeatures/bge3.jpg

Then turn the Camera to P Mode.
