Hi, I am about to buy a new pc and wanted an opinion on what kind of processor do I need. 1st of all, I'm not going to use it for gaming, only for internet, downloading, network sharing, and media ripping and playing. I was looking at the Inspiron series, while the cheapest one has the :

Intel® Celeron® processor 450 (2.2GHz, 800 FSB)

and the next expensive model has:

Intel® Pentium® dual-core processor E5200 (2MB L2, 2.5GHz, 800FSB).

My question is will the Celeron be adequate for my needs? or (while I'm spending the $) should I go for the Pentium?

Thanks

Hi jbmc,

The answer to this question depends completely on you budget (how much you can spend for the PC)
Still i would like to tell you that "Intel® Celeron® processor 450 (2.2GHz, 800 FSB)" is quite old one (though will be enough for your requirement of today but with changing technology i suspect that it wont be good enough for a long time) and i would rather go for "Intel® Pentium® dual-core processor E5200".
core2deo is the other beater processor available but is a bit expensive.
