So I bought a monitor with an HDMI port. That got me thinking and looking. I have found video cards with HDMI but how does the audio come into play? Are there audio/video cards?

Hi Woody,

My understanding of HDMI is as follows:

Before HDMI, it was necessary to have separate cables to transmit video and audio. HDMi is able to transmit uncompresssed digital audio and video. So not only are you getting better quality video and audio, but you only need to purchase 1 cable as opposed to 2.
