Damnit, y does HL and mods look soo bad at 1280x960?? The textures look like crap, at 1024x768 it's ok, but 1280x960 is just depressing! Ah well....

i run at 800 x 600 and i think it looks pretty good. a lot better than Q3 anyway.

Windows has started.
Would you like to play another game?

try at 1280x960. It blows. Also, q3 has better graphics imo, take RTCW for example- much better graphics than dod.

First off, Half Life runs off the QUAKE 2 engine, so of course QUAKE 3 is gonna look a little better. Also remember that RTCW is a few months old whereas Half Life is a few years old. Now how bad do you think HL graphics are?
Second off, 1280x960 is an odd resolution and thus has patchy graphics card support. My Radeon 32 DDR has no problem with that resolution and everything looks great.

That is an odd resolution... I run most of my games at 1280 x 1024 or 1024 x 768 and they look and play great. I'd have to see what 1280 x 960 looks like.

except for rtcw, many games look pretty bad at 1280x960.

I try to stick as close as possible to my LCD's native res (1280x1024). Actually, 1280x960 looked worse on my friend's Ati.....

Ah, yea I could see that bein a problem with an LCD. That kinda blows for gaming. But like I said, on my Radeon 32DDR, 1280x960 runs smooth and looks nice, so its probably a uniquely system by system thing.
