I've decided that I want to purchase a 22" LCD. The main criteria I had in mind was that it have both DVI and HDMI inputs so I could connect my PC and 360 both. Currently I'm using a Sceptre X20 LCD, and honestly I haven't really had any problems with it, but it has just a single DVI input. I'm not overly picky, but I do want it to look decent. Generally I understand that all 22" monitors are using TN panels, so my question is whether there is any real difference if you chose to use a cheaper brand.

The three monitors I've narrowed it down to are:
Samsung 2280 HD ($479)
NEC ASLCD22WMGX-BK ($329)
BenQ FP222WH ($285)

If any TN panel is likely to perform the same, I'm not sure what the point of the Samsung over the BenQ is. Samsung is the brightest, the NEC has the best Contrast Ratio. I believe the Samsung also has a tuner, but I'm not likely to ever make much use of that. I was leaning toward the NEC, because I had really good luck with CRT's from them back in the day, but I was hoping I might get some opinions here.

Those are all good brands. I think I would also consider LG. Some of theirs are decent as well. If it was me and all those were comparative quality-wise, I would then ultimately choose on price.

Are you sure you want a 22" monitor? You can buy a (cheaper) 20" and just sit a little closer. You'll get the same resolution (cuz the pixels are closer in the 20" ) and the same field of view.

Don't limit yourself based on it having both DVI and HDMI. HDMI carries basically the same signals as DVI-D plus a few extra (incuding the digital audio).

There are cables and adapters to go between HDMI and DVI. Check out http://monoprice.com for some good deals on them. monoprice also sells hdmi switches the cheapest of which is around $20.
It is a more elegant solution to be able to directly connect two dvi/hdmi devices directly and there aren't enough monitors that support it.
