Hey, I've got a problem that I've completely narrowed down but I don't know where to go from here. I fixed a customer's computer (just simple things like anti-virus install, and plugged in the cd drive that somehow managed to come unplugged) and then booted it back up and it worked fine. I called the customer to come get it, and she brought it home and then it wouldn't boot up. She brought it back, and I checked various things. Everything is getting power and all the components appear to be working fine...Except the start button. At first I tried to boot the computer via wake on lan, but that didn't work. However, it boots when I short out the two pins with a paperclip perfectly. How in the world do I replace a *Dell* power button? My terminology regarding this will be pretty terrible, but most power buttons are "divided" and you have to connect them to the pins in a specific order. The Dell one just connects to them all so it's impossible to tell which ones are the ones that I need to use. I looked at Dell's manual for that particular computer and it divined nothing.
What should I do? Should I just get a replacement power button from Dell or something for that specific model? Do they even sell those anymore?
