Mic is recording speaker sounds

Forum Home Audio : General Discussion Mic is recording speaker sounds

I have completely disconnected my mic. When I play Unreal Tournament and hit the key for voice chat, the same sounds from my speakers are sent to my teammates. I shouldn't be able to transmit anything if my mic is not plugged in...

When my mic is plugged in and I talk on Skype, the other person says he can hear the music I'm playing extremely clearly but my voice through the mic has horrible screeching noises.

Any idea on what's going on? I use onboard audio.
