hey there,
I just bought a second Seagate Barruca 200GB SATA hard disk, first in installed it normally, no problem except the fact Windows XP SP2 didn't found it so I had to format it via Partition Magic. Then it worked perfectly.
Then I built a RAID 0 array (with a cluster size of 64 ) and began a clean XP install. So here start the problems:
- the setup didn't recognize as a 400GB HD but as a two 200 GB just like no RAID were set up. Even so I tried to install XP in one of the two discs shown but after the first setup part the system was rebooted and that's it. Everything I saw was a blank screen...

So, am I doing something wrong?

Please, reply as soon as you can ;)

tks

Sounds like the raid array didn't get setup right, or mabye the hard drive wasn't partioned correctly. I'd start from scratch, reconfigure the raid array, then use fdisk. If fdisk says there is only one drive, then its good, but if fdisk shows two drives, something is wrong. Is that the barracuda with NCQ? I am building a computer with a raid 0 array w/ barracudas and SATA2, and am curious of what kind of results I should expect.

Also, what motherboard are you using?

It's a Barruca without NCQ (ST3200822AS).
Maybe its stupid to ask this, but where shall I find fdisk? :)
Last time I used it was with DOS 6.22 :)

Dos ain't goona see disks on a sil3112 controller so I don't think there is any way you can use fdisk.

What drivers are you giving to windows setup? For some software raid controllers I've seen separate drivers for raid and nonraid. Maybe you have the nonraid drivers on the floppy you are giving windows setup or something.
Are you using this driver: <A HREF="http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/drivers.php?categories=1&model=6" target="_new">http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/drivers.php?categories=1&model=6</A>

If you are try <A HREF="http://www.folken.net/downloads/Drivers/Si3112driver.zip" target="_new">these</A> instead.
